I think most people wouldn't think that Maine has much to offer in the way of fine cuisine, but those of us who are locals and foodies know otherwise. We actually have something like more restaurants per capita or some bullshit like that. Anyhow, I was a server and bartender for like ever, so needless to say I love good food. I mean come on, why else would I choose to work for 5 star restaurants??? The fantastic astmosphere, the wonderful customers, or the fact that I get to eat filet mignon for free...You figure that one out. So I have complied a list of some of the best restaurants our fine state has to offer, but they aren't the normal Hugo's or 555 even though those places are fantastic. I wanted to offer more of a list of hidden gems I suppose. So... Here goes nothing.
Ok, this one was the biggest surprise to me ever! There is a place in Lewiston(of all the places in the world, right?) Its called Fuel and its located at 49 Lisbon st. It is a French restaurant and I absolutely love it. And it could compete with any fine French restaurant in any zip code. Everytime I have been it has been an experience in and of itself. Not only is the food absolutely to die for, they have an amazing wine list. Their executive chef Justin Oliver is an amazing artist when it comes to food. They have a special its called the "Feed Me Justin" basically you let your server know what you like or don't care for...or in mine case what you may be allergic to. And everyone at the table must order the "Feed Me Justin" and for $35 you get a four course tasting meal which is the perfect amount of food. I think that if you have an opportunity to go check it out, well, then you should. I will let you know that they are closed on Sunday and Monday's and if you go I would recommend getting a reservation, otherwise you may end up like me and my girlfriend Sarah having to hover like hawks to get a seat at the bar.
So here is a link to their website where you can check out their menu and other events etc.
Oh and you can make a reservation online thru open table but you can find that link on their website.
And there is also a art gallery in the space next door, I believe they own that space as well.
Anyhow. Check it out...AMAZING. Hands down the best meals I've ever had have been in this building...

I HEART ME
I absolutely adore words that mean two different things. You know like read and read. One mean you're about to and the other means you already have. Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. So, that's where I gathered the inspiration for my new blog, and I say new blog, because I've already been writing one for the last year, but I wasn't really devoted to it. And I must say, neither were any of my friends. Perhaps that's because I didn't really put anything that interesting in it. But I do want to send a shout out to my cousin Beth http://jusshar.etsy.com who was one of my only followers, and for that Bethie I thank you. Now let's get back to the here and now, I heart me. Now of course anyone who knows me, knows that statment is true. But it also means I heart Maine...ME being the abbreviation for the state that I was born and raised in. And the state that I have come to believe is the most perfect place in the world to settle down and find roots. (find roots?? Maybe root roots???no....) Settle down and root oneself in her surroundings. I love ME. So I am going to do my best to blog Everyday! And since there is the giant elephant in the room. I am not trying to be the next Julie/Julia, but I unlike Julie Powell do not have a full-time job (since I am on leave of absence at the moment) I will make this blog my full-time job. So, I at the moment am not sure where exactly this journey is going to take us...But one of my favorite quotes is....Its the journey not the destination that counts....or whatever...but you get it...right???
